HND Mechanical Engineering(Automobile)

Requirements for the programme

A. SSSCE Holders

1.         Five (5) passes (A-C) in three (3) core subjects, including English Language, Integrated Science/Core Science, and Mathematics and at least two (2) elective subjects in Science or Technical Electives.

Or

2.         Six Passes (A-D) in all subjects, including English Language, Integrated Science/Core Science, and Mathematics and at least three (3) elective subjects in Science or Technical Electives.

B. WASSCE Holders

1.         Five (5) passes (A1-C6) in three (3) core subjects, including English Language, Integrated Science/Core Science, and Mathematics and at least two (2) elective subjects in Science or Technical Electives.

2.         Six Passes (A1-D7) in all subjects, including English Language, Integrated Science/Core Science, and Mathematics and at least two (2) elective subjects in Science or Technical Electives.

C. Technical / Vocational School Applicants

1.       MVT Parts I and II certificates

2.       MET Parts I and II

3.       Ordinary Technician Diploma (OTD)

4.       Technician III

D. General Certificate of Education (GCE)

At least two (2) GCE ‘A-Level passes in Physics plus five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level passes in English Language, Mathematics, General Science and any other two related subjects.

E. Post–Secondary Teacher Certificate

            Post –Secondary Teachers Certificate (Science or Technical options)

F. Mature Students’ Entry:

1.       Must be at least 25 years old

2.       Must have had at least two (2) years of relevant work experience

3.       Must pass a written examination in English, mathematics and Departmental Paper and or an interview

3. International Applicants

1.         All foreign qualifications shall be referred to the  Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission to the institution.

2.         Applicants with WAEC qualifications can apply directly to the University.

3.         Evidence of proficiency in English Language will be required in the case of applicants from non -English speaking countries.  International applicants are also requested to acquire Non-Citizens Ecowascard as a pre-requisite for regularization of admission. International applicants who fail to provide evidence of having acquired this card will not have their admissions regularized.
