B.Tech Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Requirements for the programme:

.A. Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSSCE)

Credit Passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects, including the English Language, and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects (Elective Mathematics, Physics and Either Chemistry OR Biology OR Applied Electricity OR Electronics OR Technical Drawing or any other relevant subject).

B. West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)

Credit Passes (A1-C6) in six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects, including English Language, Integrated Science and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects (Elective Mathematics, Physics and Either Chemistry OR Biology OR Applied Electricity OR Electronics OR Technical Drawing or any other relevant subject).

C. Certificate from Technical Institutions

Certificate II holders: Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science plus three (3) relevant trade courses (Electrical and Electronic Principles, and any two of; Installation Technology and Regulation, Practicals/Project or Technical Drawing). Applicants will be admitted to the First Year of the programme.

D. General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level Candidates

Five (5) credits at O’ Level including English and Mathematics, plus

EITHER

Passes at A’ Level in Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Physics with an O’ Level credit in Chemistry.

OR

Passes at A’ Level in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry

E. Electrical Engineering Technician Part III (EEE III)

 Applicants with post EEE III working experience in the relevant field will be added advantage. Successful applicants will be admitted to the First Year of the programme.

 

F. Higher National Diploma

Applicant must have graduated with a good HND certificate (i.e. at least 2nd Class Lower Division) in the following or similar programmes: Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Computer Science shall be admitted into level 300.

G. International Applicants

1.         All foreign qualifications shall be referred to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission to the institution.

2.         Applicants with WAEC qualifications can apply directly to the University.

3.         Evidence of proficiency in English Language will be required in the case of applicants from non -English speaking countries.  International applicants are also requested to acquire Non-Citizens Ecowascard as a pre-requisite for regularization of admission. International applicants who fail to provide evidence of having acquired this card will not have their admissions regularized.
